The Power of Giving in Business

I had an interesting experience within the last couple of days. Several people contacted me for some advice on how to get started as a virtual assistant. Well, I do not mind sharing my personal experience on how and why I started. Nor do I mind pointing you to people and resources that will help you in whatever dream you are pursuing-if I can.

There were no barters made or fees charged. Just some Free advice. Some time later I began to receive calls and emails from perspective clients about my services. Within two days, I had three new clients. Coincidence? I do not think so.

You see, I am a strong believer of whatever you put out, you will get back. You may even get back more than you give out. This is true for every day life and your business.

Do you offer free consultations, resources or even one or two hours of free service to potential clients? Is your business model structured in such a way that it allows for you to add value to those around you and the communities you are a part of without looking for something in return?

Here are a few benefits:

You build new connections- You will connect with those whom you are sharing information with, expanding your reach outside of your immediate circle. It will also open up more networking opportunities without having to sell.

Paying it Forward- There were many that unselfishly helped in my journey to become a business owner/entrepreneur. I did have some mentors that were hired, but much of my learning was received by the free resources within my virtual assistant community. What better way to show appreciation than to continue to carry on that same courtesy that was given to me.

You will Reap- Everything may not come back in the form in which it was given. But trust me, you will get back.
